A metal band that appears to have thought out their music very well. This is the kind of releases I use to describe as 'progressive avant-garde metal'. Surely a nice description but I'm pretty convinced nobody can picture the kind of music behind this stupid summarize. I listened to this "Reality Dysfunction" many times now and I'm still unable to find the right way to label the music, I even don't know if I hate or love this album. Prog-fusion metal is what is says on the bio, and for once it almost makes sense. The fusion metal bit is somewhat obvious as Linear Sphere's musicians are real chameleons, developing jazz oriented (de)constructions with lotsa metal surroundings. As for the progressive, well, they definitely deliver a more original and innovative music than most bands supposed to play similar sort of stuff. Very different (divergent) musical ideas combined with (how can I say?) strange / weird / difficult vocal variety. I really don't know if there is such a genre... if not, these guys created it. There are tons of variations in tempos and as you can guess they are not afraid to try and merge different musical themes. The playing is to a high standard and the vocal works shall disturb lotsa listeners. Having said that though, I found that some themes lacked direction or appear too exhausting... I sometimes have no idea at all of what they are trying to achieve. Unusual (to say the least), unpredictable, complex alternative metal music... this is something refreshing in a quite stereotyped scene. Try.
