"Progressive music in the true sense of the term".
Drawing from their English roots, Linear Sphere build naturally on their musical heritage, they have got nothing in common with pseudo prog-rock, typical art-rock or Dream Theater clones.
The quintet shows complex metal arrangements with influences from jazz and fusion, certainly some cleanly played guitar chords and the solo parts bearing their own weight.
'Reality Dysfunction' clearly rules progressive shredding and gripping metal, throughout reaching a high level of playing enriched with spacey sounds and word samples. So look forward to some very diverse material, diverse time changes and also some unusual harmonic changes. This full album with beautiful booklet, gets added independence and value by the singing of Jos Geron, who sings on and off with a clear voice and in places changes to an untypical light breathing vocal (and with the closing long 'From Space To Time' goes into a scream reminding me of Jason McMaster), which also races through the most varied tones and keys and may not be to everyone's liking, but clearly in the act of the extremely characteristic, recognisable sound that Linear Sphere have.
A newcomer with their own aura, their own identity? Yes here is one.
