Nick Lowczowski has been surrounded by music since day one having grown up in a musical family. Joining a marching band at 9 years of age led to experience playing trumpet, flugle, and tenor horn in venues such as the Royal Albert Hall and Wembley Arena as well as countless dates in the UK and abroad, during this time he developed an interest in drumming and at around 14 years started taking lessons with Hamish Stewart of Reading. Having grown up listening to a blend of classical music, rock and jazz, Hamish's influence (being also a fine keyboard player and composer) opened Nick up to World Music and generally the bigger picture of drumming which has proved invaluable.

Nick has continued to explore music playing in many groups ranging from Rock to Cabaret both in the UK and abroad, which ironically have often included various collaborations with both Charlie and Martin over the years, and has also developed a keen interest in composition where he draws from influences as diverse as Black Sabbath to John Adams.

Always seeking information and new angles, a period spent studying Indian Tabla under Shiv Shankar Ray led on to taking drum set lessons from Pete Zeldman (www.petezeldman.com) which continue to this day. Pete being both a true innovator on the instrument and great teacher has opened many doors for Nick and has also become a good friend.

Having only gotten involved with the Linearsphere collaboration at a late stage, Nick's input on the Reality Dysfunction record was primarily rhythmical, adapting sections and implying metric modulations etc although he intends to submit full compositions for the new album which is currently being written. In the meantime Nick is finishing off his own debut solo cd which is already creating a buzz, receiving rave reviews for the originality and strength of the compositions.

Nick continues to teach drums privately from his studio in Wimbledon, London, and can be contacted at: band[at]linearsphere[dot]com
